About the Festival
 |
The One Minute Film and Video Festival
first came about in 2003, as the result of a dare among lapsed-filmmaker
friends in Toronto. The idea was to complete a project based in imposed time
and subject-matter restrictions to make it easier to get motivated. The One
Minute Film & Video Festival is an opportunity for filmmakers, from
professional to amateur, to create and screen new work based around a common
theme. The strict time restriction puts a premium on creativity, while making
the projects (reasonably) easy to accomplish in a short period of
time.
The One Minute Film and Video Festival is held annually and runs
for one night at the Bloor Cinema in Toronto. The theme for the 2004 festival
is 'firsts', though contributing artists have been encouraged to
interpret the theme as broadly as desired, and in any genre they
choose.
The premiere screening of the 2004 One Minute Film and Video
Festival was held on Thursday, November 18, 2004, and a repeat screening was
held on December 12.
