About the Festival
The One Minute Film and Video Festival
first came about in 2003, as the result of a dare among lapsed-filmmaker
friends in Toronto. The idea was to complete a project based in imposed time
and subject-matter restrictions to make it easier to get motivated. The One
Minute Film & Video Festival is an opportunity for filmmakers, from
professional to amateur, to create and screen new work based around a common
theme. The strict time restriction puts a premium on creativity, while making
the projects (reasonably) easy to accomplish in a short period of
time.
The One Minute Film and Video Festival is held annually and runs
for one night at the Bloor Cinema in Toronto. The theme for the
2003 festival was neighbours, and the
theme for the 2004 festival was
firsts.
The theme for the 2005 festival is
intersections. The Third Annual One Minute Film and Video Festival was
presided over by an awards jury made up of talent from Torontos film
video communities - Cameron Bailey (bio), Vera Frenkel (bio) and Alan Zweig.
The 2005 festival was screened in Toronto on
November 24 2005 at 7:00 p.m.
