The One Minute Film and Video Festival was founded in 2003, as the result of a dare among lapsed-filmmaker friends in Toronto. The idea was to complete a project with imposed time and subject-matter restrictions, in order to make it easier to get motivated.

The One Minute Film & Video Festival is an opportunity for filmmakers, from professional to amateur, to create and screen new work based around a common theme. The strict time restriction puts a premium on creativity, while making the projects (reasonably) easy to accomplish in a short period of time.

The One Minute Film and Video Festival is held annually at the Bloor Cinema in Toronto. Additional screenings have taken place across Canada and internationally. Our themes so far have been neighbours, firsts, intersections, growth and secrets.
